Culture and history

The Centre International d’Art et du Paysage on Île de Vassivière is a contemporary art institution and has held the French Ministry of Culture’s label of national interest since 2018. Île de Vassivière is a pedestrian island and can be reached via a footbridge, by a walk of around 20 minutes, or during the season by shuttle boats.

The host municipality of Beaumont-du-Lac is home to a Romanesque church. Les Cars is identified as a ruin site in the wider region around Pierrefitte. The Abbaye Notre-Dame du Palais, a historic site, is also located in this wider region.

Activities
