Nature and Trails
The Parcours de santé du Salbert is located a few minutes' walk from Cravanche in the Salbert forest and offers various exercises in a natural setting.
The “Le Salbert (Cravanche)” hiking trail is 7.8 km long and classified as difficult.
History
Fort Lefevbre is located at an altitude of 650 m on Mont Salbert. It served to monitor the surroundings of Lure and Giromagny as well as the railway line from Paris. From 1953, Fort Lefevbre was converted by the French Air Force into an auxiliary radar station.
Ouvrage G is a military structure on the heights of Salbert and was used during the Cold War.
Culture
The Maison des Pères, now Cravanche Town Hall, was inaugurated on 1 August 1936. Its raised ground floor contained a chapel open to the public, a sacristy and a consultation room.
Visiting
Near Cravanche, the site known as the Grotte de Cravanche is located in the municipality of Belfort, not in Cravanche. During the Neolithic period, the Grotte de Cravanche was used exclusively as a burial site. It is designated as a ZNIEFF because it serves as a wintering site for bats.
Near Cravanche, access to the Grotte de Cravanche is prohibited from November to April. The Grotte de Cravanche can only be visited as part of the guided “Tous en visite!” programme from April to October; reservations are required.
Requests to visit Ouvrage G should be addressed to the Association ATOMES. The Association ATOMES secured Ouvrage G and opened it for airsoft.
