Belfort: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The Lion of Belfort symbolises the resistance and courage of the inhabitants of Belfort during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870–1871. It was created by Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi between 1875 and 1880. The Lion of Belfort is 22 metres long and 11 metres high.
Culture and History
The Musée d'Histoire de Belfort houses historical, archaeological and ethnographic collections. It also includes an area dedicated to Bartholdi's work.
The Grand Souterrain is a medieval trench that was covered by Vauban in 1749. During major battles, it could accommodate more than 1,000 men.

Getting Around
The Citadel of Belfort has a panoramic terrace with a 360-degree view and can be visited all year round. From April to October, the Belfort tourist train provides access to the citadel. It also takes a one-hour tour through the old town and stops at the Cour d’Honneur.
