Nature
The “Cours moyen et inférieur de la Rosemontoise” ZNIEFF area includes Rougegoutte and extends along the middle and lower valley of the Rosemontoise from Rougegoutte to Valdoie. Five regionally protected plant species are found in the Rosemontoise Valley.
In the area where the Rosemontoise Valley widens near Vescemont and Rougegoutte, numerous channels run through the floodplain. The alluvial Rosemontoise Valley is characterised by hedges, wooded areas and, above all, various types of meadow, including wet meadows.
The communal forest of Rougegoutte covers approximately 167 hectares; its managed or landscaped area amounts to 155.00 hectares. The “Piémont vosgien” ZNIEFF area includes Rougegoutte and covers 4,434.81 hectares.
Culture
The lime tree on Rue des Écoles is more than 400 years old. Rougegoutte Church has a tower with a stone facing that was rebuilt in 1724.
Rougegoutte Church contains wooden statues that are classified as historic monuments, as well as a 16th-century Pietà.
The Rougegoutte version of the Comtoise Nativity play uses the local Rougegoutte dialect for Barbisier, Naitoure and the Compare. After 1969, the Comtoise Nativity play was performed every two years, in odd-numbered years.
For more than 50 years, the people and municipality of Rougegoutte have maintained floral displays every year and in every season.
