Culture and history
Historical monuments include the Fontaine-lavoir dite du château in Bourogne, which has been listed as a “Monument historique” since 1980. The Lavoir-Fontaine du château comprises a fountain, a livestock trough, a washhouse and a rinsing basin. The Fontaine-lavoir du corps de garde was rebuilt in 1849.
The château of Bourogne was a Renaissance building from the 16th century. The cellar and a still-visible corbel of a corner tower have survived. The new Saint-Martin church in Bourogne was completed at the end of 1755. It contains an 18th-century baptismal font and a wooden pulpit with five carved panels depicting Christ and the Apostles. The choir also contains a tombstone dating from 1559, associated with the lords of Brinighoffen.
Art and the present day
The Espace multimédia Gantner in Bourogne is a centre for contemporary art and new technologies. Since 2012, it has held the “Centre d’Art Contemporain” designation awarded by the French Ministry of Culture. Water and landscape
The Rhône–Rhine Canal was excavated in Bourogne between 1808 and 1810. The Bourbeuse River crosses Bourogne from east to west. The Allaine also crosses Bourogne and forms the municipal boundaries with Morvillars, Méziré and Allenjoie.
