Levroux: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Levroux is recognised as a Petite Cité de Caractère®. This character is particularly vividly expressed by the Porte de Champagne: it is a uniquely preserved testimony to Levroux’s medieval fortifications and an important example of 15th-century military architecture. Following restoration, it has reopened to traffic in both directions.

Culture

Les Tours are the only surviving remains of Levroux Castle, built in the 15th century. They consist of an entrance châtelet with two round towers. The Maison de Bois, built between 1492 and 1495, is also part of the historic fabric.

The Collégiale Saint-Sylvain is a large church classified as a monument historique that visitors can explore. A guided tour with commentary takes visitors along a route through the medieval town and its medieval heritage.

Experiences

The former Quartier des Mégissiers is home to artists’ studios that visitors can enter. The Étang des Orbidas is used for fishing.

There are around five cycling loops around Levroux. These include Le coteau de la tour, Romsac, La vallée de la Céphons and Les bois de Moulins et de Romsac.

The historic site of Abbaye Notre-Dame du Landais is located near Levroux. Further afield in the region are Château de Valençay, the historic site of Abbaye de Barzelle and the Musée de l'Hospice Saint-Roch.
