Le Poinçonnet: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The territory of Le Poinçonnet includes 2,500 hectares of the Forêt domaniale de Châteauroux, which extends over a total of 5,354 hectares.

Nature and Trails

The Forêt domaniale de Châteauroux can be explored on foot, by bicycle or on horseback via its paths and forest roads. It can also be visited without being accompanied by a technician from the Office national des forêts.

The cycling tour “Le Poinçonnet, sa forêt domaniale et ses environs” passes through the commune of Le Poinçonnet, in particular through the state forest and its surroundings. The orienteering course “Sur les pas de la biche” was also established in the state forest in 2008; it begins at Carrefour Picard.

Local History and Culture

The “Circuit de l’eau” passes through Le Poinçonnet and includes six restored fountains as well as a pond serving as a protected biodiversity area in the town centre.

The parish church of Saint-Pierre was built in the 1860s by Alfred Dauvergne to address the great distance to and poor condition of the church in Lourouer-les-Bois. Its stained-glass windows were installed in five successive campaigns.

History and Remembrance

The memorial stele at Riau de la Motte honours resistance fighter Georges Sandrier and gendarme Jean Ségalen. A commemorative ceremony is held at the stele on the Sunday closest to 30 August.

During a walk through the forest, you can discover the ruins of the 13th-century abbey of the Order of Grandmont. The bell tower of the former church in Lourouer-les-Bois dates from the 12th century. Today, only two large ditches remain of the former Château de la Mothe in the state forest.

Events and Experiences

Every year, the Centre Culturel Asphodèle offers a cultural programme organised by the commune with the support of the “Asphodèle” association, featuring music, dance, theatre and comedy.

Le Manoir de l'Illusion et du Mystérieux offers more than 20 experiences, including immersive escape games, courses on optical illusions, demonstrations of mentalism and spiritualism, and secret missions.
