Le Pêchereau: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Château du Courbat stands in the middle of a body of water that serves as a moat. Its drawbridge has been replaced by a fixed bridge.

Culture and History

The Maison à trois carres in Le Pêchereau was built in 1786 as a three-sided building with three corners and is considered a very rare example of so-called “speaking architecture” from the 18th century.

The new church in Le Pêchereau was built according to plans by Henri Dauvergne between 1906 and 1916. A stained-glass window depicts Henry II of Germany as a crowned ruler in an ermine cloak, holding a model of Bamberg Cathedral, which he founded.

Washhouses, wells and, in some cases, livestock watering troughs were provided for the important villages of Le Pêchereau to compensate for the lack of ponds. The permanent exhibition “Regards sur le passé” presents the local history of Le Pêchereau on 23 panels and can be visited free of charge during the town hall’s opening hours.

Paths and Nature

The GR 100 “Les chemins de la Guerre de Cent ans” crosses Le Pêchereau from east to west via the Voie verte, Le Courbas, Place de Verdun and Rue des Reizes. Deer, foxes and owls have been observed in Le Pêchereau using camera traps.

Experiences

La Bourdine airfield in Le Pêchereau offers introductory flights in ultralight aircraft and gliders. Scenic flights over the Creuse Valley or the Brenne are offered from La Bourdine airfield. Drag racing events take place there every July as part of national sporting competitions.

Events

A rummage and flea market, a farmers’ market and the Fête du Pain are scheduled in Le Pêchereau for 20 September 2026.
