Culture and history

The former abbey in Saint-Maixme-Hauterive was founded by Hugues I. and existed until the French Revolution. The annual pilgrimage celebration, the Pardon, attracts pilgrims to the Chapelle Saint-Léonard.

The Centre d’Art Jean-René Lozac’h is set in natural surroundings and is a venue for live performances, events, theatre, music and dance. It has seating for 160 spectators.

The Église Saint-Même in Saint-Maixme-Hauterive was built in the 12th century. It was heavily affected by the destruction caused by the Wars of Religion in 1569; it was subsequently rebuilt and gradually restored at the end of the 17th century.

Saint-Maixme-Hauterive is one of the municipalities through which the Forêt domaniale de Châteauneuf-en-Thymerais extends.

Activities

Golf du Bois d’Ô has three practice areas with 20 hitting mats, as well as a covered area with five mats. The facilities also include the Pass Découverte, with four one-hour sessions covering various aspects of golf and an introduction to the course.

Le Labyrinthe du Thimerais is located at D140.15, Route de Hauterive, 28170 Saint-Maixme-Hauterive. It offers activities in a family-friendly atmosphere, where team spirit is needed to overcome various challenges.

La Ferme des Aventuriers is a leisure facility offering family and sports activities all year round; its entertainment activities are open to everyone.
