Culture and History

Saint-Germain-le-Gaillard can be discovered through tangible evidence of its history. The Plessis-Franc estate includes a dovecote built around 1650. Le Tartre, a former fief, has retained its moats; a 17th-century building has also been preserved there.

The Église Saint-Germain was built in the Flamboyant Gothic style. In Saint-Germain-le-Gaillard, Eronville is home to an old manor house. The remains of the Château de Plessis-Franc have also been preserved in the village.

The Ferme de la Sablière is named after its first owner, the Marquise de la Sablière. She was a scholar and a friend of Jean de La Fontaine, who dedicated fables to her.

Landscape and Cycling

The Charentonne Valley runs through Saint-Germain-le-Gaillard. The “De Sully à La Fontaine” cycling route includes Madame de la Sablière’s lands in Saint-Germain-le-Gaillard.

Buildings and Community Life

As one of its main activities, the Les Gaillards de Saint-Germain association organises a spring meal. “Le Pavillon”, built in 1860 on the Ferme de la Sablière, is now holiday accommodation.
