Charonville: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Dolmen de Quincampoix is a megalithic monument dating from the Neolithic period. It has been classified as a “Monument historique” since the 1889 list. The monument is shared with the neighboring municipality of Saint-Avit-les-Guespières.

Culture and History

The parish church of Saint-Gilles in Charonville dates from the 12th century. It contains a wood-carved statue of the Virgin and Child with modern polychromy. It was restored in 1810 and dates from the 17th or 18th century.

Three historic signpost plaques can be found in the center of Charonville; a fourth stands in the hamlet of Écurolles. One historic signpost plaque stands in Charonville at the intersection of the D124 and the D108, opposite a pond.

Water and Townscape

Charonville is bordered by the Loir to the south. There is a washhouse by a pond in the village. An old water pump is one of Charonville’s local cultural heritage features.

Cycling Routes

The 24 km Loiravéloscénie cycling loop passes through Charonville. The route to the Véloscénie also passes through Charonville and then reaches a connection in Blandainville to the cycle path leading to the Véloscénie.
