Rouvres: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Rouvres lies in the Vesgre Valley. The Église Saint-Martin was classified as a Monument historique by decree of 16 October 1992.

Culture and history

The choir area and bell tower of the Église Saint-Martin date from the Romanesque period. The northern side aisle was built in 1820.

The Chapelle Sainte-Geneviève de Rouvres is a small rural building associated with the hamlet of Les Mordants. It is dedicated to Sainte Geneviève de Paris and has long been associated with local devotional practices.

The history of the mills is also present at the entrances to the village: the Moulin de Rouvres, also known as Moulin Pithrou, lies at the eastern entrance to Rouvres and is a former compulsory grain mill. The Moulin de la Folie, also known as Moulin Garnier, is located at the western entrance and is a former fulling mill. The Moulin de Rouvres still has its mill wheel and mill leat system; the Moulin de la Folie still has a mill wheel, a mill leat, sluice gates and screens.

Other historic buildings include two old washhouses: the Lavoir de la Cornette was built by the river, while the Lavoir de la Fontaine was built on the site of a spring.

Landscape

The GR22 long-distance footpath passes through Rouvres. There are also viewpoints overlooking the village, its slopes and the surrounding landscape.
