Culture

The Church of Saint-Chéron in Marchéville dates from the late 15th or early 16th century and marks the transition from Flamboyant Gothic to the Renaissance. The two stained-glass windows 1 and 3 in the northern choir of this church were classified in 1908 and contain reassembled fragments from the 16th century as well as elements from the 19th century. Marchéville is also home to a 17th-century triptych classified as a historic monument.

The Musée Marcel Proust is a museum in the vicinity of Marchéville. In the wider regional surroundings of Marchéville, there are also the Château de Levesville-la-Chenard, a palace, the Abbaye Notre-Dame de l'Eau, a historic site, and the Château de Dangeau, also a historic site.

Landscape

The Loir runs through Marchéville. In the Loir Valley near Marchéville, the Beauce gives way to more heavily wooded landscapes. Marchéville is also associated with a Proustian landscape on the Guermantes side between the Manoir de Mirougrain in Illiers-Combray and the Château de Villebon. This landscape inspired Marcel Proust during his walks.

The 37-kilometre cycling loop “Boucle Coeur Beauperchois” passes through Marchéville. The walking route “Les chemins de traverse à Marchéville” runs between Marchéville and Ollé.
