Oinville-Sous-Auneau: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Oinville-sous-Auneau reveals its character through the contrast between plain and valley: the municipality therefore features a varied landscape that slopes down into the Voise Valley.

Culture and history

The medieval Saint-Rémi Church stands in the village centre. It preserves the tombs of the lords of Oinville, who were buried there in the 13th century. The church also contains two exceptionally rare tombstones belonging to lords from Cherville and their successors. Saint-Rémi was formerly a pilgrimage site in honour of Saint Leonard for children with speech difficulties.

A beautiful 15th-century portal is all that remains visible of the former château. The château was confiscated in 1792, sold as national property and demolished in 1799.

The Moulin de Lonceux is an old watermill dating from the 18th to the 19th century. It was built in a valley of the Voise in the Beauce region, within the municipality of Oinville-sous-Auneau. Its historic machinery has been preserved and is linked to the early days of industrialisation. Upcoming yoga retreats are also scheduled at the private estate of the Moulin de Lonceux in the Eure-et-Loir département.

One of the distinctive features of the municipality of Oinville-sous-Auneau is Palm Sunday – a day of sharing and exchange among the residents.

The Poissac mill also combines architectural history with present-day use. The building dates from the 16th and 18th centuries and was rebuilt in 1730 by Seigneur Olivier on the site of an older mill, which had presumably burned down. Today, the mill has been converted into gîtes and can accommodate guests all year round.

Landscape and nature

Les Grands Marais lie in an old meander of the Voise. This peaty wetland, wooded with alders, birches and aspens, provides a refuge for wetland fauna and flora threatened by their severe decline.

Bus route 15A passes through Oinville-sous-Auneau and connects Le Gué-de-Longroi with Chartres.
