Barjouville: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

A dense network of paths and footbridges characterizes the Plan-Vert area of Le Coudray, Luisant, Morancez and Barjouville. It allows for varied walks and circular routes away from traffic through natural areas.

Townscape and cultural heritage

The older town center of Barjouville is located in the Eure Valley. The oldest town center includes earthen walls and an area shaped by agriculture. Historical traces include the remains of the Prestrière de Moineaux: they are partially protected as a historic monument, with the registration taking place on June 27, 1994.

The Église Saint-Jacques preserves architectural elements from the 12th and 13th centuries, including a 12th-century nave and Romanesque openings. Its bell dates from 1598 and is one of the oldest in the département. The church is also a stage for hikers on the Way of St. James to Santiago de Compostela.

The statue of Saint James in the Église Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur is a carved, polychrome-painted wooden work. It is registered as a protected cultural object; the protection has been in effect since July 21, 2011.

Nature and trails

La Prairie is arranged around a pond for walkers, athletes and anglers. The La Prairie circular route is recognized by the Comité Départemental de Randonnée Pédestre d’Eure-et-Loir and marked in yellow. It crosses a branch of the Eure via an old stone bridge.

Cycling

“Au fil de l'Eure et des étangs – Boucle vélo n°2” is an 18 km cycling route associated with Barjouville. The route follows the Véloscénie to Fontenay-sur-Eure and its ponds. It is signposted with green-and-white signs and a blue marker bearing the number 2.
