Brezolles: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Brezolles is situated on a rural plateau in the northwest of the Eure-et-Loir département, shaped by cereal cultivation. The Beauce region still extends this far; the Perche region lies nearby to the southwest, and Normandy to the northwest.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint Nicholas was founded at the beginning of the 11th century, rebuilt in 1177 after a fire in 1151, and altered in the 15th and 16th centuries. Its bell tower and the first bay of the nave have been partially protected as historic monuments since their classification on 15 November 1913.

The former Porte de Tillières can also still be identified in the townscape: at 2, rue de Tillières, it can be recognised by the Grison stone base of its turret. Brezolles was also a crossroads of two major Roman roads, the Paris–Mortagne route and the Chartres–Condé-sur-Iton route.

The Maladrerie de Brezolles dates back to the period when the Military Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus was founded in 1120 and served to house and care for people with leprosy.

The new salt storehouse, the Grenier à sel of Brezolles, began operating in 1727. Various cultural and other events are regularly held at the Grenier à sel.

Market and Local Life

Brezolles’ weekly market takes place every Thursday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. under the market hall.

Landscape and Water

The Étang de Brezolles has been laid out for walks. The AAPPMA Brezolles “L’Hameçon Brezollien” is also active on the water and along the Meuvette. Founded in 1954, the association manages a small fishing stretch on the Meuvette from the Étang de Brezolles to Revercourt. Its activities include a fishing festival in June.
