Thou: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Opposite the church stands a former manor house dating from the 15th century, built of black stone, bricks and limestone; today it is a private residence.
Culture and townscape
Today’s Église Saint-Aignan de Thou has its origins in the late 12th or early 13th century. The single-nave church has simple architecture using local materials. As a historic church building, it is typical of the small parishes of the Pays-Fort. Thou’s local heritage also includes typical buildings of the Pays-Fort.
The Lavoir de Thou
The Lavoir de Thou was built in 1952 on the edge of the village next to a spring. It is located behind the church on the small road to Villegenon. Its architecture is inspired by an industrial design. Inside the lavoir is a waist-high cement trough that enabled the washerwomen to work standing rather than kneeling.
The contemporary art trail Allons Voir! also includes the Lavoir de Thou as one of its rural exhibition venues.
Paths and leisure activities
Several accessible rural paths in Thou are suitable for hiking. Fishing is mentioned as a leisure activity on the Grande Sauldre.
