Saint-Satur: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Several clearly identifiable historical references converge in Saint-Satur. One starting point is the Ancienne abbaye: the large sacred building, the west wing of the former cloister, was rebuilt from 1717 onwards on the foundations of the old dormitory. The building facing the street, which formed part of its monastic farmyard, was constructed in 1768–1769.

Culture and History

In 1839, the abbey church of Saint-Guinefort was the first building in the Cher department to be classified as a Monument historique. Most of the present-day church was built in the final decades of the 14th century. Saint-Guinefort is Gothic; its design is considered stylistically very similar to Bourges Cathedral.

The historic site of the Abbaye de Chalivoy and the Abbaye cistercienne de Notre-Dame monastery are located in the vicinity of Saint-Satur. In the wider regional area are the remains of the Abbaye Notre-Dame des Roches, recorded as ruins, as well as the Château de Gérigny, recorded as a castle.

Landscape
