The Méridienne verte runs through Ardenais as part of a line leading from north to south across France. This line crosses six regions, 20 départements and 336 municipalities; a stele near the town hall marks its course.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-Sulpice is dedicated to Sulpice the Pious, the archbishop of Bourges in the 7th century. Its choir is covered by a ribbed vault with a Flamboyant-style profile, while the square tower features structural elements from the 12th and 19th centuries. The manor house and the former priory are considered the only surviving remains of Ardenais's medieval town centre.

Trails and Landscape

The signposted Circuit des Étangs is a 9.7-kilometre circular trail that can be used on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. It follows the route to Santiago de Compostela, leads to the Étangs, the local ponds, and offers a hilly, green landscape.

After leaving Ardenais, the GR® 654 continues along a pleasant path lined with hedges and trees.

Farm and Products

La Ferme du Bouc' et d'Fromage keeps 60 goats using organic farming methods on 20 hectares of meadows used for haymaking and grazing. All the milk is processed on the farm; goat cheese and kid goat meat are sold there.

During the activity at the chèvrerie du Bouc et d’Fromages, visitors can get to know the animals, discover everyday life on the farm together with the farmer, and take part in a tasting with refreshments.

Other Places

Thou, Neuilly-En-Dun, Sancoins, Farges-En-Septaine, Saint-Priest-la-Marche, Sainte-Solange, Ménétréol-sur-Sauldre and Brécy
