In the traditionally preserved town centre of Farges-en-Septaine, the town hall, church and village square are situated close together; the parish church of Notre-Dame stands in the centre.

Culture

The church dates from the middle of the 12th century, has a central tower and no transept. It houses the painting “Le Baptême du Christ”.

History

The Château de Bois-Bouzon is an early 17th-century manor house built during the reign of Louis XIII. It was commissioned in 1632 from the Berry architect Jean Lejuge; construction began in 1636. It is protected as a historic monument, with the protection also covering the outbuildings and park. Augy is a former seigneurie mentioned in written records since 1163.

Landscape

The small château in Augy is located on the banks of the Villabon stream. It has an imposing round tower, which may be a 17th-century dovecote and is connected to a main building in the Neoclassical style. The washhouses on the Villabon have traditional silhouettes and roofs made of old tiles; today, they welcome walkers.

The municipal paths offer pleasant opportunities for walks in Farges-en-Septaine. Several old wells with stone surrounds have been preserved in the village squares; one of the surrounds is hexagonal. Les Vignes is located at the upper edge of a wooded slope that descends towards the gardens along the Yèvre.

Regional Produce

The La Halle de Marchés market hall is intended for products from local producers and organic products and is located at 38 bis rue des Épinettes, 18800 Farges-en-Septaine. The Domaine Lecomte range includes seasonings and oil products, beekeeping products, as well as the AOC Châteaumeillant, AOC Quincy and AOC Reuilly wines; one hour is allotted for its tour.
