Argent-Sur-Sauldre: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Argent-Sur-Sauldre is a place shaped by preserved craft history, sacred architectural heritage and waterways. The château, church, Canal de la Sauldre and Étang du Puits combine different facets of the town.

Culture

The Musée des Métiers d'Antan, one of the stops along the Route Jacques Cœur, is housed in the château. Through various crafts, it conveys forgotten know-how and rural life in the 19th century. Exhibits also include evidence of local pottery workshops and reconstructed scenes of everyday life. On three levels, the museum reconstructs the workshops of craftsmen whose trades have since disappeared.

History

The Église Saint-André stands within the château grounds and is protected as a historic monument. It was probably built as a château chapel in the 13th century. The nave was extended at the beginning of the 15th century for Marie de Sully and Charles d'Albret; the tower porch, choir, apse and chapels date from the 15th century. In 1892, Octave Guérin restored the building.

Trails

The Canal de la Sauldre was built in the 19th century to improve the soils of Sologne. Today, it is part of the industrial heritage, and walks are possible along its banks.

The Au Pays-Fort hiking route begins in Argent-sur-Sauldre and crosses the Canal de la Sauldre at the Launay lock.

Water

The Aquaparc at Étang du Puits in Argent-sur-Sauldre offers, among other things, a slide, a trampoline, the XTREM Tower and paddleboards.

Electric boats and step paddles can be rented on the Canal de la Sauldre. With half-day and full-day rentals, it is possible to reach Étang du Puits.

Geographical location

Argent-Sur-Sauldre can be reached via Exit 19 of the A77 towards Gien and Bourges, as well as via the D940.

The wider regional surroundings of Argent-Sur-Sauldre include the châteaux Château de Mimérand, Château de Marcault, Château de la Ronce and Château de Gien.
