In its floodplain lies the Tourbière des Landes in the municipality of Ménétréol-sur-Sauldre, covering 10 hectares between the two municipal ponds. The area combines acidic peatland habitats, wet heathland and swampy woodland. At the same time, the Tourbière des Landes is an important area for the preservation of acidic peat bogs in the Sologne and in Centre-Val de Loire.

The Circuit des Millets is an easy circular trail covering 10.0 kilometres and taking approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. It passes through a sandy landscape characteristic of the Sologne, with forests and ponds.

The village’s origins date back to the 11th century; at that time, it was mentioned under the name Monastériolum. Ménétréol-sur-Sauldre is also home to ancient tombelles, which are considered the remnants of little-known rites.
