Crézancy-en-Sancerre: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Crézancy-en-Sancerre lies in a transitional zone between the wooded hills of the Pays Fort and the rugged vineyard slopes of the Sancerrois. Agriculture and livestock farming are practised in the west, while the east is characterised by vineyard slopes. Viticulture has a strong influence on the town: around thirty winegrowers cultivate approximately 300 hectares of vineyards.

History

The first known mention of the Seigneurie of Crézancy dates back to 1085; Gilon de Sully probably had the Château de Crézancy built. Vaulted cellars remain from the former Château de Crézancy, possibly dating from the 14th century.

Culture

The Church of Saint-Pierre was rebuilt in 1670, including the choir, bell tower and nave. Its foundations probably date back to the 12th century. The church also hosts cultural events such as concerts.

Sylvie Cairon works with drawings in motion, abstract pieces and landscapes painted on site to create an Expressionism that connects the human body with the plant world.

Local products

The farm shop at Chèvrerie des Gallands sells locally produced cheeses, including Crottins, Tommes and fromage blanc. On request, Chèvrerie des Gallands offers unguided visits and welcomes groups by reservation.
