Saint-Bouize: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Saint-Bouize first reveals itself through its architectural history: the Château de Lagrange-Montalivet stands on the site of the Château fort de Vèvre, which was mentioned in 1090. Its main construction phases date from the late 16th century and the first half of the 17th century. The present building consists of a central structure with an imperial roof, flanked by two pavilions.

Culture and History

Jean-Pierre Bachasson de Montalivet, a minister under Napoleon I, bought the Château de la Grange in 1807 and had 24 Lesueur panels from the Hôtel Lambert in Paris reinstalled on the first floor. The entire Église Saint-Baudel was listed as a Monument historique by decree of 24 December 2024. The architectural diversity also includes the present Pont-canal du Moule, which consists of two arches, each 5 m wide.

Landscape and Trails

Saint-Bouize lies mostly in the Loire floodplain. The Boisseau feeder channel begins at the La Gavroche weir in Saint-Bouize and is 5.75 km long. The signposted Loire à Vélo cycle route also connects Belleville-sur-Loire and Cuffy and passes through Saint-Bouize.

Routes and Activities

Saint-Bouize has the open Boucle de Saint Bouize, a 6.3 km route. The “Les Ecuries de l'Aubois sancerrois” riding centre offers riding lessons and bears the “Centre de Tourisme Equestre” designation. The Randonnée des Melons, described as an annual event, was announced at the Champ de Foire in Saint-Bouize with routes of 7, 14 or 21 km.
