The Château des Stuarts is an example of Renaissance architecture and was built by Robert Stuart in the 16th century.

Culture and History

The grand hall of the Château des Stuarts hosts cultural exhibitions throughout the year. The ground floor also houses the Centre d'Interprétation de l'Auld Alliance, which offers a fun, interactive visit exploring Aubigny's historical connection with Scotland.

Other historic buildings include the Maison dite François Ier, built in 1519 and now home to temporary exhibitions. The Maison Victorine presents annual exhibitions featuring memorabilia and objects collected by local residents.

The Maison du fil au tartan welcomes textile professionals and experts in thread techniques throughout the year, allowing them to demonstrate their skills and guide interested visitors in textile crafts.

Gardens and Water

Behind the Château des Stuarts, the Grands Jardins form an urban walking area. Hornbeam avenues have been preserved there as remnants of the original French garden. There are also two large giant sequoias, recognised as “Arbres remarquables” for their size and beauty.

The Etangs d'Aubigny-sur-Nère comprise a large and a small pond in a green, peaceful setting with picnic areas.

Activities

Golf en campagne is a free golf course open to everyone, with around eleven holes in a natural, wooded setting around Aubigny-sur-Nère's sports park.

The Rallye Selfie Aubigny-sur-Nère is a city game in which participants use a colour fan to search for 15 photographed locations in the town.

The Parcours sportif d'Aubigny-sur-Nère is a fitness trail around 2,200 m long, with approximately ten training and exercise modules along the route.

Annual Events and Routes

The Fêtes Franco-Écossaises take place every summer around 14 July as a three-day festival in Aubigny-sur-Nère.

Aubigny-sur-Nère is served by Rémi bus route 437, which connects Gien with Aubigny-sur-Nère.
