Cours-les-Barres is connected to neighbouring Burgundy by the Pont de Fourchambault-Givry. The Canal de Givry is a 2,377-metre-long navigation canal.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint-Pantaléon in Cours-les-Barres dates back to the 14th century. Its choir is decorated with a signed painting dated “Tamiotti 1867”.

Water and Landscape

Three small bridges, renovated in the 20th century, span the Canal de Givry. It enabled water traffic between the lateral canal along the Loire and the Loire itself at the Bec d’Allier, where the Allier flows into the Loire.

The “Loire de la Marche à Fourchambault” ZNIEFF area includes Cours-les-Barres. It is of regional interest because of its floodplain habitats and the animal and plant species associated with them.

The Centre équestre de Cours-les-Barres offers riding lessons and horse rides. One-day and one-week courses are available there.

The municipal pond of Cours-les-Barres is designated as a category-two fishing water.
