Saint-Georges-sur-Moulon is home to Coteau de Coillard, a sensitive natural area covering approximately 11 hectares.

Nature and landscape

This area includes a limestone slope, a pond, a pool and a natural area. It also encompasses a 3,600-square-metre dry grassland area with orchids. The natural area includes, among other things, a large pool and a willow arboretum.

The municipal pond at Coteau de Coillard is a refuge for biodiversity. Amphibians, dragonflies and various bird species can be observed there.

Coteau de Coillard has a 2.5-kilometre circular trail serving as a discovery path. The Saint-Georges-sur-Moulon motorhome service area is the starting point for hiking routes.

In the wider regional surroundings of Saint-Georges-sur-Moulon lies the Bois d'Humbligny hill. The Motte d'Humbligny ou le Chaillou hill and the Forêt de Beaujeu hill are also located there.

Culture and history

The “La Pierre à la Femme” menhir is located in the Vignes de Coulaire area of Saint-Georges-sur-Moulon. Its main construction period was the Neolithic; since 1889, the menhir has been classified as a historic monument.

In the surroundings of Saint-Georges-sur-Moulon, Palais Jacques-Coeur is a palace. Hôtel des Échevins, Ancien Hôtel-Dieu and Hôtel Lallemant are also located nearby; they are historic sites.
