Menetou-Salon: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Château de Menetou-Salon was extended between 1884 and 1891. The extension was carried out by Paul Ernest Sanson and was inspired by the Palais Jacques Cœur.

Culture and History

The Musée de l’Automobile adds another cultural connection: it reflects the commitment of the Princes of Arenberg to preserving automotive cultural heritage. The Domaine de Menetou-Salon was sold to Jacques Cœur in 1448. An individual visit to the Château de Menetou-Salon takes an average of 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Wine and Local Connection

The Menetou-Salon wine-growing region received the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée designation in 1959; Menetou-Salon is one of the municipalities of origin for its wines. In the heart of the village, the Domaine Viticole du Prince et Duc d’ARENBERG is located opposite the Château de Menetou-Salon. The “Prince & Duc d’ARENBERG” cuvée is sold exclusively in the boutique of the Château de Menetou-Salon. When visiting the Château de Menetou-Salon, a tasting of the wines of the Domaine du Prince d’Arenberg can bring the visit to a close, provided it is available.

Tours and Trails

The Menetou-Salon heritage trail is 2 km long and takes around 45 minutes. Along 14 information panels, it provides information about the history of the municipality. The GR31 passes through Menetou-Salon. In 2024, at least six marked hiking trails with lengths ranging from 2 to 23 km were listed in Menetou-Salon.

Other Activities

Fishing is possible at the Étang communal de Farges with annual and day permits. Bell Fourche City offers western riding, an introduction to black-powder shooting and the use of the lasso. Le Carroi offers activities in adult theatre.
