Vierzon: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Vierzon can be discovered through clearly defined themes: culture and industrial history, historic sites, nature by the water, as well as theatre and music.

Culture

The Musée de Vierzon presents industrial and railway history with collections of porcelain, glass, stoneware and agricultural machinery. It is located in the former Société Française factory, a site protected as a Historic Monument.

The Musée des Fours Banaux features two 15th-century ovens that are unique in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Other exhibits include a model of Vierzon in the Middle Ages, Beffroi clocks from the 15th and 19th centuries, statues of the Evangelists from the 15th century, and a Gothic window.

History

Square Lucien-Beaufrère is classified as a Historic Monument. Art Deco elements from 1925 to 1935 are arranged there around a pacifist war memorial. The square offers free visits at all times, as well as guided tours on request. There is also a picnic area, a play area and parking.

The Église Notre-Dame dates from the 12th to the 15th century and is listed as a Historic Monument. The church contains a 15th-century stained-glass window depicting the Crucifixion, which is classified as a Historic Monument. The Église Notre-Dame can be visited free of charge at all times; guided tours are available on request.

Nature

Île Marie lies in the heart of Vierzon at the confluence of the Cher and Yèvre rivers. It covers three hectares and is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. The island has a marked 800-metre trail with six thematic markers.

Stage and events

The municipal Théâtre Mac-Nab has an auditorium with 498 seats and a reception hall with a mezzanine where temporary exhibitions can be held. Les Estivales du Canal was founded as a music festival in 2008 and took place in Vierzon during the summer.
