Le Subdray: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The “Pelouses des Chaumes du Verniller” are located partly in the municipality of Subdray and cover 185.2 hectares. They extend across hills and slopes in a triangle between the A71, the Luchaire site and the centre of Le Subdray.

Nature

Part of the ecological inventory area “Pelouses, ourlets et chênaie thermophiles du Bois de Saint-Florent” belongs to the Natura 2000 protected area “Coteaux, bois et marais calcaires de la Champagne Berrichone”. The “Pelouses des Chaumes du Verniller” are home to more than 60 characteristic plant species, including around 15 protected species.

The Rampenne is a river that emerges in Le Subdray near the Bois de Cologne and close to Tronçay.

History and Culture

The Church of Notre-Dame du Subdray has been listed as a historic monument in France since 1926. It is a recently restored example of Romanesque architecture. Near Le Subdray’s football pitch, a stele commemorates the sacrifice of those who fought in the war.

Events

The 2026 edition of “Les Arts dans le jardin” focused on ceramics, drawing, painting, pastels and calligraphy. The event was held for the third consecutive year on Sunday, 7 June 2026. The programme included a demonstration of Évelyne Leblet’s craftsmanship in hatmaking. Visitors could discover artworks by established and newly selected artists throughout the day.

The Festival National du Non Labour et du Semis Direct has been held since 1999 and is a travelling festival. Every year, it brings together several hundred farmers, technicians, researchers and companies from the agricultural sector.

Hiking

The Rampenne crosses several fields and passes over paths towards Bois des Déserts and Vignou. The hike organised by the Entente des Marcheurs de Trouy in Le Subdray included four routes of 8, 14, 21 and 29 kilometres. The GRP ChB-10-C includes the “La Vallée – Le Subdray – Les Déserts” section.
