Culture and History

The Église Saint-Loup is located in Herry. It was listed as a Monument historique under a protection order dated 25 September 2025 and features significant construction phases from the 13th, 16th, 17th and 19th centuries. Among the oldest surviving parts are the choir and the crossing, dating from the first half of the 13th century.

Loire Landscapes and Nature

The Val de Loire nature reserve is located 2 km from the centre of Herry and was designated as a nature reserve by a ministerial decree dated 21 November 1995. Le Val d'Herry is open to the public subject to strict compliance with the regulations of the Val de Loire national nature reserve. In Val d'Herry, the Saulières site is a representative section of the Loire of the islands; its landscape was shaped by erosion and sedimentation.

Hiking and Mountain Biking

There are eight hikes around Herry, ranging from 6.5 to 34.5 km in length. The Circuit de la réserve is a signposted 6.5 km hiking and mountain-biking trail along the Loire within the nature reserve; it can be extended by 3 km. The Circuit de la Gargaude offers 5 km and 9 km options for hiking and mountain biking, partly follows the Loire à Vélo route, and offers views of the Gargaude islands. In the Le Val d'Herry area, there is also a 1.5 km discovery trail at the Saulières site.

Herry is served by bus routes and is located in the immediate vicinity of the railway stations in Pouilly-sur-Loire and La Charité-sur-Loire. There is also an on-demand transport service available by user reservation, providing in particular journeys to La Charité-sur-Loire, Sancergues and Bourges.
