Civray: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Civray combines distinctive paths through the landscape with a concentrated succession of historic buildings. The long-distance hiking trail GR 41 passes through the village. A 14 km-long hiking trail also begins at Place de l'Église and leads through the surrounding natural areas.

Nature and trails

Within the Champagne Berrichonne, Civray has an agricultural character. Forests and agricultural land surround the village and form the landscape setting for the two hiking trails described.

Culture and history

The Église Saint-Pierre is a Romanesque church dating from the 11th century; its bell-tower porch dates from the 12th century. A small room at the entrance is said to have served as sleeping quarters for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela.

The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Sérigny has a Romanesque nave dating from the 12th century. Around 1500, it was extensively restored, with the chancel being rebuilt. Since 6 August 2009, the chapel has been listed as a historic monument. The listing covers the entire chapel, with the exception of the building section attached to the north-west side of the chancel.

The Château du Coudray was built in the 15th century; significant ruins of it are still preserved in Civray. The Grange des Dîmes also dates from the 15th century. The building has a passageway for carts and preserved loophole windows.

Events

Civray's municipal events programme lists producers' markets in April, May, June, September and October. In addition, the future Comice agricole of the canton of Chârost is scheduled to take place in September 2026. The Comice agricole planned for September 2026 is open to everyone and is intended to include events at which agricultural practices are presented and explained. On 14 March, the municipal events programme also lists a St Patrick's Day celebration.

Getting there: Civray is connected to the north via the RN 151, along which the Bourges–Châteauroux TER bus route runs. Saint-Florent-sur-Cher railway station provides Civray with easy access to rail services.
