Saint-Thuriau showcases a remarkable combination of sacred history and paths through the landscape within a small area. The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Joie de Gohazé dates from the 15th and 16th centuries and was restored several times in the 19th and 20th centuries without altering its medieval-Renaissance character. Its surrounding wall, several échaliers and its calvary have been preserved. The chapel stands on the banks of the Blavet at the western edge of Saint-Thuriau.

Culture

The Chapelle Saint-Mathias was built in 1848 on the ruins of an older chapel. Extensive restoration work took place in the 1980s: the choir statues and plasterwork were repaired, while the stained-glass windows and the wooden paneling of the vault were also renewed.

The Église Saint-Thuriau was built in 1620 by the de Lantivy (also Lentivy) du Rest family on the remains of an older structure. Its wood-paneled vault was decorated in 1779 with 18 paintings depicting the life of Saint Thuriau. The furnishings also include 16th-century stained-glass windows depicting the Holy Trinity, the Annunciation and the Circumcision of Christ.

Landscape and paths

The Canal de Nantes à Brest runs through Saint-Thuriau and is suitable for walks, bike rides and horseback rides. Route 29 between Pontivy and Saint-Thuriau can be used on foot, on horseback or by mountain bike. In Saint-Thuriau, the Circuit de la fontaine Blanche is 5.6 kilometers long.
