Ploemeur reveals its coastline at Fort-Bloqué beach: the 1,900-metre-long town beach of sand and pebbles faces southwest.

Landscapes and nature

The Étang de Lannénec covers 70 hectares and extends across the municipalities of Ploemeur and Guidel. The wetlands around the Étang de Lannénec offer a variety of landscapes. At the Kergantic kaolin site, large white hills can be seen that may resemble snow-covered mountains.

Parc de Kerihuer is a 2.5-hectare wooded and hilly park. It features a landscaped walking path through remarkable trees. At Pointe du Talud, a landscaped walking path runs along the cliffs anchored in the sea.

Visitors can go for walks and fish at the Étang de Lannénec. The two ponds of the Étang du Ter can be circumnavigated on foot or by running.

History and culture

The Church of Saint Peter in Ploemeur has been known for almost a thousand years and is documented as early as 1037. After suffering war damage, it was rebuilt; it retains its old exterior and has a modern interior flooded with light through the coloured stained-glass windows by Robert Briand.

The Cruguellic dolmen dates from the Middle Neolithic and is dated to the period between 4000 and 2500 BC. Guided tours of the bunkers at the Batterie de FLAK du Cosquéric focus on the military heritage of the Second World War and life under German occupation.

The Notre-Dame de la Garde chapel in Lomener is located in a former 19th-century cannery. The chapel contains four ex-voto ship models, as well as the “St Pierre”, dating from 1874, a three-masted square-rigged warship with mixed propulsion that has been classified as a historic monument.

Maritime and seasonal impressions

Laïta Croisières offers seasonal boat services from Lomener to Groix. In Ploemeur, arts and crafts and musical entertainment are available from 7 p.m. in July and August.
