Nivillac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Nivillac, the Rives de la Vilaine area includes a long-distance hiking trail along the Vilaine. The Boucle de Cosca botanical circular trail also belongs to this area; it crosses a variety of habitats such as meadows, orchards and forests.

Nature and Trails

The municipality of Nivillac has several circular hiking trails as well as circular cycling and mountain biking routes.

The Port de Folleux harbour is a marina on the Vilaine between the port of Arzal and the port of Redon. From there, footpaths lead as far as the Chapelle des Alliers. The Circuit de Folleux circular trail starts at Port de Folleux; it runs partly along the Vilaine and its valley and leads through traditional villages such as Trévineuc, with its thatched-roof houses.

Culture and History

Construction of the present-day Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul began in July 1900; it was consecrated on 15 October 1902.

Significant remains of the Seigneurie de Lourmois, the most important aristocratic estate in Nivillac, have been preserved. The historic estate included moats and a drawbridge.

The dolmen “La Chambrette”, classified as a historic monument, can still be seen in Nivillac. The church of Saint-Cry houses a hollowed walnut-wood statue of Our Lady of Grace with the Christ Child dating from the 17th century.

Faith and Traditions

The chapel houses a statue of Notre-Dame-des-Blés created by Jean Fréour and a relic of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux.

During the Pardon de Sainte-Marie at the Sainte-Marie Chapel, a Mass is held at 11 a.m. on 15 August, followed from 12:30 p.m. by a meal with moules-frites or sausage and chips, as well as refreshments served on site.
