The Church of Saint-Pierre Saint-Paul in Bignan was built from 1787 according to plans by the rector Pierre Noury on the site of a Romanesque building and is one of the rare examples of Neoclassical churches in Brittany.
Culture and History
North of Kergonfalz lies a dolmen in a tumulus with an angled passage, also known as the “Trou des Chouans”.
The covered passage at Lescadec near Saint-Just dates from the Neolithic period. It is classified as a monument historique, is 9.50 metres long, opens to the south, and still has three capstones and twelve pillars.
The Chapelle Sainte-Noyale au Bézo in Bignan bears the year 1593 on a beam. The Maison natale de Pierre Guillemot was intended to serve as a museum and to present changing exhibitions every summer on the Chouannerie, local history, and the French Revolution.
The Domaine de Kerguéhennec includes a 45-hectare natural area with an arboretum, ponds, and forests, as well as a sculpture park. The sculpture park of the Domaine de Kerguéhennec was created in 1986 and today brings together more than 30 works by renowned artists.
In the immediate vicinity of Bignan is the ruin of the Église Saint-Sauveur et Saint-Colomban. The historic site of the Abbaye de Lanvaux is located in the surrounding area of Bignan.
Landscape and Trails
The landscapes around Bignan have an uneven, rugged character due to the abundant granite and the Claie River. The Circuit des Landes is a 14-kilometre hiking trail with a walking time of approximately four hours and starts at the sports hall in Bignan.
