Plage de la Grève is located in the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. The beach is particularly suitable for walking and hiking; mudflat fishing and sand yachting are also possible.

Coast and Trails

At Grève d'Hirel, Avel Char à Voile operates its sand-yachting activity and offers children and adults an introduction to this sport. There are 4 km of beach available for this purpose.

The GR® 34 runs between Mont-Saint-Michel and Saint-Briac-sur-Mer. At Le Vivier-sur-Mer and Hirel, there is a connection to this long-distance hiking trail.

Routes through Hirel

Circuit des Biez No. 5 leads from La Fresnais towards Hirel and on to the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. At the bay, it leads to the Voie Verte. The restored Moulin de la Ville-ès-Brune is a stopping point on a route through Hirel.

Churches and Local History

The present-day Notre-Dame Church in Hirel was built in 1855 according to plans by the architect Jean-Gabriel Frangeul. Its tower was built in 1870 under the direction of Louis-Alfred Frangeul.

The present-day Saint-Louis Church in Vildé-la-Marine was rebuilt in 1855 by the architect Jean-Gabriel Frangeul; the tower porch was built in 1870.

Vildé-la-Marine was first mentioned as a parish in the 14th century and later passed to the Templar commandery of La Guerche. The layout of the village preserves an old structure shaped by roads running along the coast, primarily oriented towards maritime activities.
