The 85-kilometre-long Canal d’Ille-et-Rance runs through Saint-Grégoire, connecting Rennes, Dinan and Saint-Malo. The water shapes the town just as much as its paths, historic traces, markets and cultural events.

Water and Paths

The Robinson site offers walks along former towpaths beside the canal. As part of the municipal kayak club, the Île de Robinson water sports centre offers paddling, sprint, polo and recreational activities; its programme also includes excursions along the canal. The CRAPA-VTT fitness trail at 31 Rue du Pressoir Godier is freely accessible around the clock, seven days a week. The SPADIUM aquatic centre has a sports pool, leisure pool, slide, paddling pool and whirlpools. Spadium Zen offers Nordic saunas, Japanese saunas and hammams.

The “Randonnée et découverte” programme includes monthly full-day excursions with a picnic. Several hiking brochures suggest circular routes in Saint-Grégoire and three neighbouring municipalities.

Market and Culture

Saint-Grégoire’s Wednesday market brings together around 30 traders and regional producers at Place Gilles Grallan. They offer fruit and vegetables, bread, fish and prepared dishes. Saint-Grégoire’s market gives priority to local producers and promotes short supply chains.

Saint-Grégoire’s cultural department offers performances for children and adults throughout the year. Festambul is the amateur theatre festival organised by the Théâtre de la Gâterie association. The Robinson Festival took place in 2026 for its 30th edition.

Historic Traces

The Manoir dit l'Auge de Pierre puis la Trinité preserves part of the residential building dating from the 17th century. Part of the moat at the Manoir dit l'Auge de Pierre puis la Trinité is still visible. The watermill on the River Ille was built approximately between 1875 and 1878. Saint-Grégoire’s former parish church is believed to date from the 11th century.
