La Bazouge-Du-Désert: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

La Bazouge-du-Désert is characterised by tangible evidence of its architectural and ecclesiastical history. The parish church of Saint-Martin was rebuilt in 1911; the construction work continued until September 1913. In the 1910s, the glassmaker Alleaume from Laval made its stained-glass windows.

Culture

The building at Malagra dates from 1716. Malagra is a former paper mill site and is considered the place where the Prince of Talmond, a leader of the Chouannerie, was arrested in 1793.

The statue “Saint moine au chien ou à la biche” is located in the Chapelle Saint-Clair in L’Hermitage, La Bazouge-du-Désert. The wooden, carved and polychrome-painted sculpture was listed as a protected object on 5 December 1980.

The chapel of Tertre Alix also leads into local history: it is recorded in the first land register of 1834 for the communes of La Bazouge-du-Désert and Louvigné-du-Désert and is built onto an centuries-old oak tree.

Things to do

The Cyclos Roue Libre Bazougeaise association organises weekly cycling and hiking outings on Tuesday, Thursday afternoons and Sunday mornings. The association is open to everyone; a licence is required to participate.

The Circuit de l’Épinay circular route begins at the church square in La Bazouge-du-Désert. The 6.5 km circular route allows visitors to discover the landscapes of La Bazouge-du-Désert.

The L’Épinay viewpoint offers a wide panoramic view over the Glaine valley, with a view towards Mayenne.
