Motreff: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Motte castrale de Kergorlay is a conical castle mound that is still approximately 10 m high and has a diameter of around 50 m at its base. It has been listed as a historic monument since 30 September 1997.

Culture

The Chapelle Sainte-Brigitte dates mainly from the 16th century; a construction phase in the 17th century remains uncertain. Its walls consist of granite, slate, dressed stone and rubble masonry. During the restoration, the timber structure and slate roofing were completed in 2002.

In the hamlet of Cosquer in Motreff lies the Ardoisière du Cosquer, a slate quarry belonging to the raw materials industry. At the Ardoisière de Lannesval, a clearly recognisable excavation, a remnant of wall forming part of the support structure of the hoist frame, and numerous slate-processing waste materials are still present.

The Allée couverte de Kervoulédic is listed in France as a historic monument and recorded in the Mérimée database under reference PA00090138.

Landscape

The Ardoisière de Tréveller features a large open excavation that is overgrown with bramble bushes and other vegetation. Numerous spoil heaps are located nearby.

Trails

The “Les ardoisières” hiking trail in Motreff is 14.7 km long and can be used on foot and on horseback.

Mountain biking, hiking and horseback riding are possible on the Circuit VTT N°8 “Au fil de l’Aulne”. The circuit is an 8 km circular route with a natural surface and public access on foot and via the road.

The Carhaix Poher intermunicipal tourist office includes Motreff within its area of responsibility and publishes the Guide Découverte annually, featuring an overview of the heritage sites to visit as well as leisure and hiking activities.
