Le Juch: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Le Juch can be discovered through its distinctive buildings, paths and markets. At the heart of the village is the Église Notre-Dame, which is protected as a historic monument and has been classified as a Monument historique since 15 January 1916.

Culture and history

The main construction phases of the Église Notre-Dame date from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. Its gable windows and sculpture-adorned portal have been preserved; the window in the chancel depicts the Crucifixion.

The former feudal castle of Le Juch stood on the highest part of the village, on a steep slope. The surviving substructures of its curtain wall and corner towers have been uncovered again. At the beginning of May, the four-day Fête du chant traditionnel includes a singing vigil and singing courses, Fest Deiz and Fest Noz, a sung walk, a crêpe meal with singing, and a concert in the church. It is organised by Dastum Bro Gerne and local associations.

Landscape and trails

The Bois du Névet stretches across Kerlaz, Locronan, Plogonnec and Le Juch. This forest has several circular trails, including one suitable for people with reduced mobility and an equestrian trail. The Route du Roz offers one of the most remarkable panoramas of Cornouaille.

The Circuit de Sainte Brigitte follows the former Quimper–Douarnenez railway line and allows visitors to discover the Chapelle Sainte Brigitte in a wooded setting.

Walks and orientation

The Balade au Juch is an easy 3.1-kilometre walk lasting approximately one hour. It passes close to the church, the former railway station and the former railway line, which has been converted into a voie verte.

On the section of the voie verte in Le Juch, there is a rest area with a picnic table suitable for people with reduced mobility, a litter bin and a bicycle rack. There is also an educational trail with six information panels, making the walk more varied and appealing.

The orientation board at Menez Laoregen is suitable for people with visual impairments and encourages visitors to engage with the landscape and geographical orientation. A free accompanying booklet is available from Le Juch town hall and supplements the tour of the village.

Markets and festivals

The Joli marché des créateurs takes place on 14 July. More than 30 creatives, producers and craftspeople present woodwork, paintings and prints, jewellery, ceramics, cosmetics and other local products.

The Marché du Diable takes place weekly on Friday evenings from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. Products on offer include fruit and vegetables, cheese, eggs, rillettes, meat, various breads, flowers, pizza, beer and other local goods.

The Fête de la soupe takes place in October and includes a competition for the best soup followed by a convivial evening together.
