Loperhet: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Geographical Location

In the north of Loperhet, near Pénantrein, the municipality is shaped by the Elorn River. At the same time, Loperhet is located at the mouth of the Daoulas River. Together with the neighboring municipality of Plougastel-Daoulas, Loperhet forms the Plougastel-Daoulas peninsula.

Culture and History

Prehistoric evidence includes the menhirs of Carn and Linglas, Neolithic megalithic monuments. The Menhir du Carn is approximately four meters high. To the south, Loperhet borders the Rade de Brest; the Roc’hellou hill was used to monitor it and prevent Viking incursions in the direction of Landévennec Abbey.

The feudal motte of Roc’hellou was built in the 10th century on an older Celtic tumulus and is visible from the road to Rostiviec. The Sainte-Brigitte parish church in Loperhet was built in 1896 according to plans by the architect Armand Gassis. The Château de Keranc'hoat was probably built in the 1840s; the remains of a 15th-century manor house have also been preserved.

Hiking Trails

A hiking trail in Loperhet follows the old so-called Roman road that led from Plougastel to La Martyre. Another hiking trail leads to the feudal motte after passing the old mill; it can be reached via the moat and a short, steep path to the summit.

The Circuit de Kersanton à Rostiviec is an easy 6.9-kilometer hiking trail starting from Kersanton in Loperhet. The estimated duration is 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Water Sports

The CNRL is a nonprofit water sports club in the municipality of Loperhet and is located at the port of Rostiviec. The club offers sailing and kayaking. The Centre Nautique de Rostiviec Loperhet offers water sports activities in Daoulas Bay, as well as basic and advanced navigation courses.

Surroundings

The historic Abbaye Notre-Dame site is located in the immediate vicinity of Loperhet. The surrounding area also includes Plage du Moulin Blanc beach, Château de Brest, which is considered a castle, Fort de l'Armorique, which is considered a fort, and the islands of Île de Tibidy, Île de Terénez, and Île Ronde.
