Saint-Mayeux reveals itself through specific sites and an active side of the destination: religious buildings, a megalith and a mountain bike route give the place distinct character.

Culture and History

The main construction phase of the Eglise Saint-Mayeux dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries. The Chapelle Saint-Maurice also combines several periods: it was built between the 14th and 17th centuries and restored in the 17th century. A 14th-century window has been preserved in its north wing, and a 17th-century window in its south wing.

Another historical trace is the Menhir de Roc'h ar Lein. The menhir is publicly accessible and is located in an area rich in slate.

The ruins of the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Bon-Repos and the Église Saint-Nicolas are located in the surrounding area of Saint-Mayeux. Further afield in the Saint-Mayeux region are the ruins of the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Coëtmalouën. Pontivy Castle, a historic site, is also located further afield in the region.

The VTT No. 15 mountain bike circuit “Circuit des Etangs et des Mégalithes” in Saint-Mayeux is 18.7 km long, has 350 m of ascent and 350 m of descent, and is open.
