Le Bodéo: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Lac de Bosméléac lies within the territories of Allineuc, Merléac, Le Bodéo and Saint-Martin-des-Prés. Its western part, known as the “Queue du Lac”, is a wintering and breeding area for waterbirds, including great crested grebes and coots.

By the Water

Along the shaded shores of Lac de Bosméléac, paths created by the Côtes-d’Armor département allow visitors to walk part of the way around the five-kilometre-long reservoir. Lac de Bosméléac is suitable for fishing as well as walks, horse rides and mountain biking tours.

Culture

The parish church of Saint-Théo was rebuilt in 1705 under the direction of Jean Soulié, an architect from Saint-Malo. The parish church of Saint-Théo contains a chapel built in 1667 in the northern transept. The painted barrel-vaulted wooden ceiling of the parish church of Saint-Théo was created between 1724 and 1726 by the painter Jean-Baptiste Le Corre.

The Fontaine Saint-Théo is located on Rue Saint-Martin. The source of the Fontaine Saint-Théo is vaulted over by a structure with a deep basket-handle arch and lies hidden in a bed of hydrangeas. An open small channel carries the water from the source of the Fontaine Saint-Théo to a nearby washhouse.

History

Historically, Le Bodéo depended on the cloth market of Quintin. During the French Revolution, the village of Kérigant above the Étang de Bosméléac became a centre of Chouan resistance. During the French Revolution, Cadoudal and Legris du Val met in Kérigant in the circle of the Garnier de Kérigant family.
