Gurunhuel: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Gurunhuel combines impressive sacred buildings with clearly described routes through the landscape. The Chapelle Saint Fiacre in Poul-Brennec is particularly multifaceted: its construction history spans from the end of the 15th century to the beginning of the 18th century.

Culture

The Chapelle Saint Fiacre in Poul-Brennec (Gurunhuel) has a transept and nave walls dating from the end of the 15th century. The northern and southern arcades were renovated in the 18th century; the choir dates from the second half of the 16th century, the tracery from the end of the 16th century, the west façade from the end of the 17th century, and the bell tower from the beginning of the 18th century. The main structure consists of slate and granite, and the roof is covered with slate. The Chapelle Saint Fiacre is listed as a historic monument.

The Notre-Dame Church in Gurunhuel is also part of the local heritage landscape: it has been listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments since 1926. Its ground plan follows a Latin cross. Inside, there is a polychrome wooden altarpiece with six carved panels depicting scenes from Christ’s childhood. The Calvaire triple, consisting of three crosses, also stands in the Gurunhuel cemetery and can be visited freely at any time throughout the year.

Active exploration

The mountain biking route “Station VTT n°14 – circuit du Roudour” starts at Gurunhuel town hall. It is 15 km long, of moderate difficulty, and is indicated as taking around two hours. The yellow-marked route “Entre sommet et fond de vallée – Gurunhuel” is also of moderate difficulty, 12 km long, designed to take around three hours, and starts in front of Gurunhuel town hall.

In the direction of the hamlet of Miniou, a panorama over the Léguer Valley opens up.
