Lancieux: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The coast of Lancieux combines the sheltered dunes of Plage des Briantais, Plage de Saint-Sieu opposite the Ébihens Archipelago, and Plage de l’Islet with its long pier.

Culture and history

One prominent structure is the Moulin de Buglais, a windmill built in the 16th century by Benedictine monks from the Abbey of Saint-Jacut de la Mer. The municipality of Lancieux acquired it in 1972; it was subsequently restored under the supervision of the French heritage authority Bâtiments de France. Every year on 15 August, the Fête du Moulin takes place at the mill, featuring music and a traditional rural feast.

Another historic building in the town is the Vieux Clocher, the preserved tower of Lancieux’s former parish church of Saint-Cieux. The oldest parts probably date from the 15th century, while the tower bears the date 1740. The new parish church of Saint-Cieux was built from 1900 to 1902. Its design combines Neo-Romanesque elements with Breton and national Gothic Revival styles.

Nature and protected landscapes

Tertre Corlieu has been protected as a biotope since the prefectural decree of 6 March 1995 and covers 16.3 hectares. In addition, the ZNIEFF area “Le Tertre Corlieu – Dune et marais des Briantais” covers 39 hectares. It is designated for its botanical diversity, rare calcicolous plants, and zoological importance.

The area of the Dune de la Briantais and Tertre Corlieu is protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral and encompasses a variety of natural habitats that support numerous species. The ensemble consisting of the Croix Cohiniac, the surrounding trees, and its immediate surroundings also has protected status: in Lancieux, it has been classified as a protected site since 22 May 1943.

Beaches and water sports

Plage de Saint-Sieu stretches for almost one kilometre and is supervised by lifeguards in July and August. Windsurf boards and catamarans can be rented at this beach.

Plage des Briantais can be reached via a free car park at the end of Rue des Bénédictins and, from there, by a sandy path approximately 250 metres long. BreizhGo lines 214 and 212 stop at the Moulin bus stop; from there, the beach is approximately 1.5 kilometres away on foot.

The Club Nautique de Lancieux is a school for kitesurfing, windsurfing, catamaran sailing, land sailing, kayaking, and dinghy sailing.

Coastal paths

The GR 34 runs along the west coast of Lancieux. The “Autour de Lancieux” route follows the coast along Plage de Saint-Sieu, crosses Plage des Briantais, and goes around Tertre Corlieu. It leaves the GR 34 and follows the Chemin des Polders. The route also leads to the left bank of the Frémur and to the natural areas of Tertre Corlieu and the Polders.

Golf and other activities

GAEA Golf de Lancieux has two coastal golf courses and a training centre; golf courses and introductory sessions are offered year-round. Émeraude Sensation Pêche offers sport fishing on the Côte d’Émeraude, with several activities available from the age of five.
