Crehen: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
In Créhen, a building dating from the mid-17th century has been preserved from the former Carmelite monastery of Le Guildo. The monastery replaced a collegiate church founded by Charles de Dinan in the early 15th century, which served to accommodate and support poor people and pilgrims.
History and Culture
The Manoir dit château de la Touche-à-la-Vache also bears witness to the history of the locality: it includes the remains of a 15th-century keep, which was entered in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments by decree dated 27 February 1926. The Church of Saint-Pierre de Cherehen was first mentioned in 1163 and at that time belonged to the holdings of Saint-Jacut Abbey.
Much older traces can be found at the Allée couverte de la Ville Génouhan in Créhen in the Côtes-d’Armor département. The structure dates from the Neolithic period, more precisely from between 5,800 and 2,500 BC, and is a 12.70-metre-long collective burial site. It is considered one of the most significant dolmens in the east of the Côtes-d’Armor département.
Another historical landmark is the community’s Grande Chapelle in Créhen, built in 1899.
Paths and Landscape
A footpath runs between Créhen and Le Guildo along the former railway line. In 1991, on the occasion of the municipality’s partnership with an Irish fishing village, the first section of this path was named “Allée Kilmore-Quay”.
The “Autour de l’Arguenon maritime” route takes in the green corners and historical heritage of the Arguenon estuary. The landscape area also includes the Domaine du Château du Guildo in Créhen: the 5.36-hectare Natura 2000 site encompasses coastal forests, dunes, salt marshes and mudflats.
Château du Guildo
Access to Château du Guildo is free all year round. Château du Guildo is listed in the register of historic monuments.
