Plounévez-Quintin: Holiday apartments and houses

The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Kerhir in Plounévez-Quintin, together with its churchyard, enclosure and the large trees surrounding it, was registered as a historic monument on 5 October 1964. It bears the date 1596, has a Latin-cross floor plan and still has roof beams from the 16th century.

Culture

The Kerhir complex also includes the Maison ou « loge » en dalles de schiste de Kerhir. It was fully registered as a historic monument on 30 January 2020. Its four walls consist of large slate slabs set vertically.

The Église Saint-Pierre also combines different construction periods: the choir and part of the transept date from the early 16th century, while the nave, the Sainte-Anne chapel and the bell tower date from the late 18th century. The Chapelle Saint-Colomban dates from the late 15th century; it includes a calvary cross and the nearby Fontaine Saint-Eloi. The chapel also displays the coats of arms of France and Brittany.

The Chapelle Saint-Roch dates from the late 17th century. The Site de Saint-Roch includes a small chapel. In the Église de Plounévez-Quintin, the first Stations of the Cross were created by Xavier de Langlais in 1931. They are painted in oil on fibre-cement panels embedded in the walls.

Paths and activities

A visit to the Chapelle Notre-Dame de Kerhir can begin with a hike from the centre of Plounévez-Quintin. To access the Site de Saint-Roch, a footpath from the village of Garviniou is recommended; around two hours should be allowed for the visit.

For cyclists, there is the Circuit vélo de Plounévez-Quintin. The route starts at the church and follows the country roads of the municipality of Plounévez-Quintin. It is signposted, moderately difficult, 19 kilometres long and designed as a circuit for road cycling.

The Mignoned Sant Roch association offers various activities at the Site de Saint-Roch all year round, including geocaching, treasure hunts, hikes and storytelling evenings.

Nature

With patience, otters can be observed at the Site de Saint-Roch in the early morning. Freshwater pearl mussels are found in the clean waters of the Blavet. From the stone bridge over the Blavet, you can follow a riverside path upstream or downstream and see rocks shaped by the water in places; the path is partly uneven.

The programme of the Gouel Sant Roch includes a crêpe meal.

Orientation

The Aire de services de Plounévez-Quintin has eight spacious pitches and free parking. The service area is accessible seven days a week, 24 hours a day; water is supplied in exchange for tokens.
