The Forêt de Loudéac covers a total of 2,500 hectares, of which 1,643 hectares are within the municipality of La Motte; the forest massif extends across La Motte, La Prénessaye and Loudéac. In La Motte, this woodland area is complemented by precisely dated examples of sacred architectural history and former crafts.
Culture
The Church of Saint-Vincent-Ferrier in La Motte was rebuilt from 1748 onwards by the architect Jean Guéno, known as du Chesne; the construction work was completed in 1751. It has an octagonal chapel with a baptismal font dating from 1767. The choir of the Church of Saint-Vincent-Ferrier contains three remarkable stained-glass windows.
The wayside cross in Rue de la Douve aux Louais dates from the 17th century and was re-erected on a newer 20th-century base. A devotional spring is located on its reverse side; a former, disused washhouse lies nearby. The former Moulin à farine de la Forêt flour mill ceased operations in 1968; two pairs of millstones and the remains of an electric motor have been preserved.
The outbuilding of La Pierre à l'Ane is also one of the buildings documented in La Motte that were constructed from rammed earth (pisé) using the local adobe technique.
Nature
The 13 km route “Vers la Roche au cerf” starts at the Domaine de Fromelin. At La Roche au cerf, a small bridge and a footbridge ensure the crossing. In the hamlet of La Secouette, drivers regularly train on the race track there.
