Ploubezre: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Château de Kergrist offers a direct route into the history of Ploubezre. Its origins date back to the 15th century; over the following centuries, the building was remodelled several times. The gardens of the Château de Kergrist include French, English, exotic and Japanese garden areas.

History and culture

Several remarkable buildings form part of the historic character. The Château fort de Coat Frec has been listed as a monument historique since 1927 due to its architectural and historic significance. The Manoir de Kerhervé is distinguished by a defensive tower. The reconstruction of the Église Saint-Pierre et Saint-Paul was probably completed in 1554; the bell tower was built in 1577.

Sacred architecture also displays different periods and forms. In its nave and northern chapel, the Chapelle Notre-Dame de Kerfons combines flamboyant Gothic architecture with early Breton Renaissance architecture in the southern transept, which dates from 1553–1559. The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Kerfons houses two permanent exhibitions: one about the rood screens of Brittany in five panels, and another about the restoration work carried out in 2020 and 2021, with before-and-after photos.

The Chapelle Saint-Fiacre in Runfao dates from the first half of the 16th century and has an asymmetrical floor plan with a rectangular nave and northern aisles with five bays. The chapel is open to visitors upon prior request to the town hall. The Église Saint-Pierre et Saint-Paul is open year-round from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Nature

In the Léguer Valley near Ploubezre, there are marked trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, recreational cycling and trail running. Thus, alongside the historic buildings, the landscape with its designated trails and various modes of transport is also a focal point.

Kastell Koad Freg and Kastell Tonkedeg, both castles, are located in the immediate vicinity of Ploubezre. Tonquédec Castle, a historic site, is also nearby.
